Khongor Sand Dunes "Khongorin Els"

The Khongor Sand Dunes, known as the "Singing Dunes" in Mongolian, comprise a vast desert of sand dunes spanning over 900 square kilometers. These dunes stretch 180 kilometers in length, are up to 15 kilometers wide, and reach heights of 300 meters, which is three times the height of the Dune du Pyla.

These dunes create a mesmerizing mosaic of colors, with the pale yellow sand dunes contrasting against a lush green belt to the north, delineated by a small river called Khongoriin Gol. Fed by underground springs, this little river meanders along the dunes for several kilometers, forming an oasis in the midst of the arid landscape.
