Khögnö Khan National Park

The Khögnö Tarna National Park (better known as Khögno Khan) is located 250 km from Ulaanbaatar, on the road to Karakorum. The park spans the border of three provinces: Bulgan, Övörkhangai, and Tuv.

Encompassing a territory of 47,000 hectares, this park is home to numerous historical monuments, dense forests of birch and poplar trees, and natural springs. The ecosystem of the park is particularly fascinating as it serves as a meeting point between the steppe and the taiga.

As a result, the park boasts a unique variety of fauna and flora characteristic of these two ecosystems, along with breathtaking landscapes adorned with the granite formations of Khögnö Khan.

Towards the southern part of the park, you will find the renowned sand dunes of Elsentasarkhai, often referred to as the "little Gobi." Stretching across 80 km, these dunes are accompanied by the meandering Tarna River, which is lined with willow trees.
