Khamba Monastery

The Khamba Monastery was built in the mountains by Zanabazar, the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism in the 17th century. It was dedicated to his teacher, the monk Erdene, and became one of his favorite sanctuaries. At its peak, the monastery could accommodate over a thousand lamas at the same time.
