Aryaval temple

The Aryaval Temple is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of a magnificent site within the Gorkhi-Terelj National Park.

To reach this temple, one must follow a path adorned with frames displaying inscriptions that evoke teachings of Buddhism, such as "the bridge that leads beyond wisdom."

The paintings adorning the temple buildings depict two main elements: the power of the ten symbols and the mantra "Om Mani Padme Hum."

Another unique feature of the monastery is the significant presence of stone paintings. These paintings portray scenes and characters associated with Buddhism. For instance, a painted Buddha is believed to receive the wishes of the faithful (known as the Buddha of wishes).

The main temple is dedicated to the Kalachakra philosophy, also known as "the wheel of time." Within the temple, you will find a thangka depicting the myth of Shambhala (a magical place hidden somewhere in Asia according to Buddhist philosophy), a Kalachakra mandala, and other objects related to this belief. On the ground floor of the temple, you can admire a "gallery of Buddhist philosophy" showcasing 220 original paintings by artist Bayantsagaan, illustrating various Buddhist beliefs and philosophies.

From the top of the monastery, you will be treated to breathtaking views of the Khentii mountains and the Gorkhi-Terelj National Park. The panoramic vista captures the natural beauty and serene landscapes, immersing you in the tranquility and spirituality of the surroundings.

Visiting the Aryaval Temple offers a unique opportunity to delve into the mystical realm of Buddhism, discover its rich symbolism, and admire the masterful artistry that adorns the temple walls. The combination of the temple's spiritual significance, captivating paintings, and the awe-inspiring natural backdrop makes it a truly enchanting destination for those seeking cultural and natural exploration.
